Why does SellYourEvents.com require PayPal?

SellYourEvents.com uses Pay Pal, the leading online payments provider, to process credit card payments from your event attendees because:
  • Pay Pal processes payments securely and at a low cost;

  • Pay Pal is widely recognized and trusted by internet users (it’s used by eBay);

  • It is free to register for a Pay Pal account and it takes only a few minutes; and

  • Using Pay Pal means that you receive payment instantly and directly from your event attendees or customers once they make a payment online using your custom event website.
In order to link your events to your Pay Pal account, we require you to have a Pay Pal Premier or Business account and to provide us with your Pay Pal email address.

Do I need a PayPal account?
You only need a Pay Pal Account if you would like to receive payment online for your event. If you only intend to use SellYourEvents.com for free events, there are never any charges and you don’t need a Pay Pal Account.
How do I register for a free PayPal Account?
Step 1.

Go to Pay Pal's website ()
Step 2.

Click on "Sign Up" ()
Step 3.

Choose either a Premiere Account or a Business Account

You must sign up for a Premier Account or a Business Account to accept payment using SellYourEvents.com. Personal Accounts do not allow you to receive credit card payments.
Step 4.

Confirm your email address for Pay Pal by following the instructions provided (usually, this requires you to open an email sent by Pay Pal, click on a link, and answer a security question).
Step 5.

Login to your Pay Pal account ()
Step 6.

Click on "Profile"

Once the "Profile Summary" page appears, click on "Website Payment Preferences"

Step 7.

On the Website Payment Preference Page:
  1. For the Auto Return for Website Payments, click "On";
  2. For the Return URL, enter https://sellyourevents.com/confirmpurchase.aspx ; and
  3. For the Pay Pal Account Option, click “On”.

Step 8.

Make sure the email address you are using for your Pay Pal account (i.e.: ) has been provided to SellYourEvents.com.
  1. Go to sellyourevents.com ;
  2. Login to your account;
  3. Once you have logged-in, click on “Edit Profile”; and
  4. Enter the email address you are using for your Pay Pal account
Please confirm that you have provided the email address you used to register for a Pay Pal Account to SellYourEvents.com.

If you have not provided SellYourEvents.com with the correct email address you used to register for Pay Pal, you will not be able to receive credit card payments from your SellYourEvents.com.com event webpage.

That’s it!

You are now ready to accept credit card payments on your SellYourEvents.com.com custom webpage.

You will receive all funds directly into your Pay Pal account instantly as your guests or customers pay online.
Not sure if you not sure if you already have a PayPal Account?
Go to Pay Pal's website ()
Simply try signing up for a new account (see Step 1 above). If you have already registered a PayPal account using the email address you provide, PayPal will let you know, and you can retrieve your password as set out below.
Already have a PayPal account, but forget the password?
Go to Pay Pal's website ()
Click on "Forgot your password? and follow the steps.

Once you are signed in with a new password, either check what type of account you have
  • If you have a Personal Account, see below
  • If you have a Premiere or Business Account, see Step 5 above
Already have a PayPal account, but…
  • have only a Personal Account?
  • are not sure what type of account you have?
Check Account Status
You can check what type of account you have by looking at “Account Type” on the “My Account Overview” page. If you have a Personal Account, you will need to upgrade your account type.
Upgrade Your Account
On the “My Account Overview” page, click on “Upgrade Account” and follow the steps. Once you are registered for a Premier Account or Business Account, proceed to Step 5 above.
