Thank you for your pledge towards University Settlement and SWIM 1910!

University Settlement’s fundraising priority in 2010 is to raise funds for our subsidy program to help families in need participate in our programs (i.e. camp and afterschool programs). All proceeds from Swim 1910 will go towards achieving this goal.

We will issue tax receipts for all donations over $10.00. If you know anyone that loves to swim or would be interested in supporting our event please pass along our registration link,

University Settlement

University Settlement is a multi-service agency that was founded in 1910 and has the distinction of being the first community-based social service centre in the City of Toronto. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto and bordering on the revitalized Grange Park, University Settlement is part of a culturally rich and vibrant neighbourhood. As an active member of this diverse community, University Settlement strives to meet the social, economic, and cultural needs of its neighbours and users through its many programs and services. With a full-time and part-time staff of approximately 150, University Settlement has developed programs to address the needs of more than 30,000 users annually through diverse areas such as settlement services, English language classes, employment counseling, senior services, youth programming, music and arts education, and daycare.

University Settlement has extensive experience and expertise in providing services and programs to meet community needs. Our services are directed at helping individuals and families live full lives and assisting individuals in identifying and meeting personal goals – whether it is to find housing, obtain employment, learn English or getting and staying fit and healthy.  University Settlement offers a wide range of social services to individuals and families in our community with a focus on assisting newcomers to adapt to Canada.

Our many annual festivals and celebrations provide opportunities for the community to come together to honour and celebrate the traditions and customs of the diverse communities we serve.  These events provide opportunity for networking and socializing and help individuals adapting to Canada share their celebrations while learning about more traditional Canadian customs. Today, the members of University Settlement are as diverse as the City of Toronto itself. That diversity is reflected in our board, staff and in the volunteers who work with us to provide services each and every day. Our services are available in a number of languages and our materials are translated into Chinese and Farsi, as is our website ().
